Legal Resources

We provide lay legal advocacy services to help you work with the Criminal Justice System, including:

  • Orders of protection and contested orders of protection
    • Through innovative technology, we have equipped our outreach offices with web cameras to facilitate obtaining an order of protection from Tucson City Court and not requiring an individual to appear in court in person. An order of protection is a court order protecting the affected or injured party by prohibiting or restricting the offender from having contact with an individual or the individual’s children.
  • Lawyer referrals
  • Referrals to legal clinics
  • Victims’ rights education
  • Assistance with citizenship, naturalization, Violence Against Women Act documentation and other immigration issues impacted by abuse
  • Court preparation and accompaniment to Superior Court for issues such as divorce, paternity, annulment, legal separation, child custody, child visitation, and child support
  • In person support from Emerge staff who are available on site at Tucson City Court during regular court hours

If you have questions, please call (520) 881-7201.

Child & Family Services

We help children, adolescents, and teens rebuild & redefine safety within their family.

  • At Emerge, we serve more than 600 children a year and roughly half of those staying in our emergency shelter at any given time are children. As such a vulnerable population, it’s critical that children who have witnessed domestic abuse have access to support services to help them heal.

Children and family services includes support groups and safety planning with children. Our child case coordinators offer prevention, intervention, and conflict resolution curricula. Age-appropriate domestic abuse education is provided both one-on-one and in group settings. Support groups are available in English and Spanish.

If you have questions, please call (520) 881-7201.
